I Taught Someone Something Today ………..

After attempting to create an elevator pitch about THREE times!! , I think I can say I am well on my way to understanding just how in depth one really is. It was almost beneficial for me to recap my Tuesday evening class with my good friend Russell. While on a walk we discussed some of the road blocks I was encountering with school, so of course I started talking about how the entire class was struggling with their elevator pitches. I proceeded to tell him what an elevator pitch was: A 30-60 second pitch about your business and also a means to network. Then I went on to tell him the types of questions that needed to be address in an elevator pitch: Who is your market? , Who are your competitors? , What is your competitive advantage? , How do you expect to make money? , Who is the person behind the business? , What service/product do you offer?, and of course, do not forget to ask for something at the end i.e.: business card, time to meet, email address etc…. I had an opportunity to actually go over my speal with him, he gave me feed back, as best he could, based on the information that I had given him, and to my surprise he really helped a lot ! I was able to bounce ideas off of him, and see if the information was catching his attention or not. Although my tentative listener may not completely understand what it is I am talking about simply because he has no real way to put it all into context, but, as an unaware by stander who could potentially be in the elevator with me, he did very well…100/100 for Russell !!!!!!

Well...It is not business plans but I know you have been working hard on your elevator pitch. Good for you and I am glad your experience was a good one.
